Project Summary

The Mercer County Courthouse Annex brings together various county offices that were previously scattered into one facility. The annex houses the magistrate’s offices, prosecuting attorney’s office, family law master and juvenile probation office.

One of the goals of the design was to complement two historical buildings located adjacent to the new annex - the Mercer County Courthouse and the Mercer County War Memorial Building.

ETB worked with the WV Supreme Court’s deputy director of technology, Kit Thornton, early in the design process in order to ensure that the equipment, wiring and security system satisfied the current and future demands of the expanding court system.  According to Mr. Thornton, the annex is “one of the nicest, most technically advanced judicial facilities in the state.”
